Ireland!
Some Top must see Irish Films
Some of my favorite movies that are about Ireland or were filmed in Ireland.
Michael Collins - opens with the 1916 Easter uprising in Dublin. The bullet
holes can still be found in the columns of the GPO, General Post Office. Watch the movie
for some history and explore some of the areas of the film while you tour Ireland. Click here to order your copy of Michael Collins
The Quiet Man - The Duke, John Wayne stars with Maureen O'Hara. John Wayne plays a retired boxer returning from the U.S. to Inis Free to live the quiet life when he is taken with the looks of Maureen O'Hara. Irish sites used are Connemara, Cong and parts of the southwest. Visit the replica of the Quiet Man's House in Maam's Cross, Galway. You'll have to visit Killarney, Co. Kerry to take a jaunting cart ride just like John Wayne & Maureen O'Hara.
Waking Ned Devine - Ned wins the Lotto and the village must rally behind him or the funds from the Lotto will be lost.
Darby O'Gill and the Little People - (1959) is a Walt Disney Pictures feature film starring Albert Sharpe, Janet Munro, Sean Connery and Jimmy O'Dea, in a tale about a wily Irishman and his battle of wits with leprechauns. The film was directed by Robert Stevenson and its screenplay written by Lawrence Edward Watkin
Far and Away - is a 1992 adventure-drama-romance film directed by Ron Howard from a script by Howard and Bob Dolman, and stars Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. Cruise and Kidman play Irish immigrants seeking their fortune in 1890s America, eventually taking part in the Land Run of 1893.
The Luck of the Irish - A magic coin, when in the possession of the youngest family member, allows all the leprechauns in the family to pass as normal human beings. But since the coin is gone, the family is down on their luck now, and reverting to their real forms.
